Part 1 of 2

“Islands In the Stream”, a Facebook viral by the Numock Duo.

Mindanaoans must be proud with these two rising stars on social media – the Numock Family!

When I heard them singing “Islands In the Stream” I already thought that one day they will shine. Though they sound just like the normal voices we can hear on Facebook and other social media. But you will be amazed by the blending of voices of this couple singing together. Aside from that, what’s unique about this couple is that the wife is carrying a baby while jamming with her husband.

Luckily, I was given the chance to meet virtually and interview this lovely couple, Jasper and Joquezelle Numock, residents of Labangal, General Santos City.

Joel: Hello guys! How are you? How is the Numock Family?
Joquezelle: We’re fine sir.

Joel: Okay, so you are now celebrities in your own rights having acquired million views to some of your covers posted on Facebook. How’s the feeling of being celebrities now?

Joquezelle: We are very happy and excited sir.
Jasper: Yes sir excited. Yung feeling na kapag nasa labas ka ay tinatawag ka ng mga fans mo haha, at magtatanong sila, ‘Ikaw ba yung sikat nga singer sa Facebook? (Yes sir we are excited. It excites us when we go out and our fans are calling us and then they asked us “Are you the singer on Facebook?)

Joquezelle: Oo nga sir ganyan talaga ang feeling. Marami nang nakakakilala sa’yo. (Yes sir. That is the exact feeling. Many people are starting to know us.)

Joel: Your cover on “Islands In the Stream” now have almost 8 million views, is this your first viral song?

Jasper: No sir. Our first viral cover was “Chiquitita,” followed by “How Can I Tell Her” by Lobo.”
Joquezelle: Actually, “Islands in the Stream” was only our third song cover.

Joel: Oh really, but it’s the one that captured your audience because it became a hit after a few days of posting this song online.  TO BE CONTINUED…
