TESDA-MisOr, PNP-10 beef up community support outreach skills

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)–In support of the administration’s Whole-of-Nation approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Misamis Oriental in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Misamis Oriental held skills training on Basic Haircutting to the PNP 2nd Mobile Force Company to further capacitate its personnel on its outreach programs in far-flung barangays in the province.

“This partnership with PNP is vital in our TVET [Technical-Vocational Education and Training] interventions and programs in the identified PRLEC priority barangays, through this skills training, TESDA will be able to equip the PNP Misamis Oriental 2nd Mobile Force Company personnel with the necessary skills in building better relations in our far-flung barangays,” shared Provincial Training Center (PTC)-Misamis Oriental School Administrator Josef Rod Ilogon.

A total of 26 police personnel were directed to perform pre and post-hair-care activities including hair cutting, shaving, beard styling, perming, styling, and maintenance for 456 hours or 19 days to achieve proper competency.

According to 2nd PMFC Force Commander PLt. Col. Mardy Hortillosa, the training will serve as an additional skill for their company in providing stronger security and service in communities from Opol to Lugait, stressing the importance of building trust as a key factor in countering the deceptive tactics of the CTG-NPA.

“2nd PMFC, MORPPO personnel are always visiting the barangay under our area of responsibility, this skill will bridge us to be closer to the people to gain their trust and support in maintaining the better peace and order of their area, our unit is very thankful to TESDA for the partnership of giving training to our personnel to serve the public in the hinterland areas,” Hortillosa said. (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
