CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Over five hundred taxi drivers in this city gladly received their cash assistance yesterday in the total amount of P3,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The successful turnover of cash assistance directly to the drivers themselves has been thru the initiative of Senator Bong Go and Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez.
The taxi-driver beneficiaries were among those workers affected by the covid-19 pandemic. DSWD has successfully disbursed P1.5 Million worth of assistance during the distribution held at the Barangay Nazareth gymnasium yesterday (April 17).
Present during the actual distribution of cash assistance includes Councilor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez, Brgy. Nazareth Chairman Maximo “Jonjon” Rodriguez III ug DTI Asec. Nino Contreras.
Meanwhile, the cash assistance program for the drivers in region 10 was also implemented by other government agencies to wit: LTFRB 10 Dir. Aminoden Guro; DSWD 10 Dir. Mari-flor Dollaga-Libang; TESDA PD Gigi Garrido; DOLE PD Ebba Acosta, and DTI PD Almer Masiliones.
It can be recalled that last month, the DSWD office has also distributed P1,000 cash assistance to around 400 drivers thru the initiative of Cong Rufus Rodriguez.
Rodriguez told reporters he would continue to find more resources so that the sector badly affected by the pandemic will be assisted in terms of livelihood and cash assistance.
