TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – In the next five years, the City of Tagum is seen to become a highly urbanized city to reckon with.
As he strides towards his last term as the local chief executive, Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon envisions the city to soon position itself as a” highly urbanized City of People” by the year 2025.
On top of the “Tagum Tagumpay” that has been pinned on the city, he adds on it the tagline, “Where Blessings Are Here.” He invites everyone to form part of the continuing progress for the city and for its people.
“No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter your circumstances in life, we are now on a mission to include you, to join hands with you, to share power with you and to give you reason to believe that we can all pull in the same direction to make Tagum better,” he said as he ended his inaugural address after last Sunday’s oath-taking ceremony of all elected Tagum local government officials.
Sharing the Vision Tagumpay 2025 in his inaugural speech, Rellon looked forward for the city of Tagum to sustain the title as the City of Festivals, the City of Palms, City of Music, Child-Friendly City, Marching Brass Band Capital, City of Scouting and Most Business-Friendly City.
On top of these, Rellon visualized the city to earn the recognition and be known as a Drug-free City; Peaceful and Secured City; City of Lights, City of Sunflowers, Most Competitive City leading to the path of becoming the “City of People.”
He assured the public, that the welfare of Tagumenyos would still lie at the core of every development dimension which the city government is set to take towards evolving the city into a “highly urbanized people-centered city”.
In an interview, he talked about putting into a web of unique development direction, what he had observed and learned from other leading cities in the country and those he visited abroad.
“Ang akong gina panglantaw that Tagum would become a new kind of highly urbanized city with many names moving towards becoming a City of People,” he said.
He came to note of the substantial national government projects implemented and or covering Tagum City. Among such were the first phase of the Mindanao Railway Project, the Tagum City Skyway; widening and opening of coastal roads.
He also looked back at national and international events hosted in Tagum that were recognized as “successful.”
“These are all blessings of Tagum; siguro pwede na nako i-claim that blessings are here. (I can already claim that blessings are here.),” he said. “Kung gusto ta ug blessings, adto ta sa Tagum (If we want blessings, let’s go to Tagum): Blessings Are Here,” he said.
