CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – As part of its commitment to help combat the deadly coronavirus disease, the Steag SPI donated various protective gears to the frontliners in this city and Misamis Oriental Province.
SPI distributed PPEs including face masks, face shields, disposable suits, and alcohol to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, St. Paul Hospital, and various government agency partners like LGUs Villanueva and Tagoloan, PNP MisOr, PNP Tagoloan, PNP Villanueva, PNP CdO, Phil Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, 58th IB PA, and PNP Manolo Fortich.
Menwhile, different local government units in Misamis Oriental also received a total of Php 8.2 Million, representing their respective shares in the Department of Energy’s ER 1-94 program.
The town of Villanueva, which is hosting SPI’s 210MW (net) power plant received PHP 7.76 million while the provincial government of Misamis Oriental received PhP 0.44 million.
The DOE issued a department circular earlier providing for the revised rules and guidelines in the utilization of the ER 1-94 funds to help the communities hosting energy facilities and energy resource developers in the fight against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
SPI’s timely release of funds is in support of the DOE’s call to effectively and efficiently help ‘flatten the curve’ by helping ensure that all local government units have the resources that would aid in containing, mitigating, and eventually eliminating the spread of COVID-19 in their respective jurisdictions.
