Spike in covid-19 cases in Philippines recorded; 4,063 cases in just one day

BREAKING NEWS: Philippines breaks a new record high of 4,063 coronavirus positive cases in just one day (July 31), breaking its previous 3,954, according to the latest data released by the Department of Health (DOH). 

The total number of covid-19 cases in the country is now 93,354 – even beating China’s 83,000 plus cases. Wuhan City, China was the origin of the deadly coronavirus disease a few months ago.

DOH confirmed the figure of 4,063 more cases for the deadly coronavirus disease in its briefer today, in which data came from Metro Manila (2,153 cases) while the other half  also came from Calabarzon and Central Visayas.

Fortunately, based on DOH data, the total recovery from over 93,000 Filipinos infected with the disease also increased to 65,178, with the new recoveries of 165 persons earlier contracted with the coronavirus disease.

The total death toll is much lower in percentage with only 2,023 out of the over 93,000 cases – with 40 new fatalities added for July 31, 2020. 

The DOH reported that 87.8% of 26,153 active cases in the country were all mild cases only.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte announced to extend general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila, Calabarzon and selected places in the country until August 15.
