Son of CDO Rep. Uy, caretaker shot dead

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Roland Sherwin “Tawee” Uy, 40, son of incumbent Rep. Rolando Uy, of Cagayan de Oro City’s first district, was shot dead along with his caretaker in the outskirt of zone 1 , Barangay Pagatpat here Thursday afternoon.

Sherwin Uy is the number one incumbent village councilor of Carmen, the largest village in Cagayan de Oro where his mother Lorna, wife of Rep. Uy is the incumbent village chief.

Reinier “Kikang” Uy, the younger brother of Sherwin Uy, is also the incumbent City Vice Mayor .

Police are still looking into the motive of the shooting by still unidentified assailants. The identity of the driver-caretaker was not immediately known.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno personally went to San Simon shortly after the reported shooting took place about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Police are still gathering witnesses and conducting a probe of the shooting incident while the Uy family has not yet issued a statement about the killing of Sherwin Uy. -0-
