MDNN NATIONAL NEWS – The slain Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Kuwait, Jullebee Cabilis Ranara, will be laid to her final resting place on Sunday, February 5, at the Golden Haven Memorial Park in Las Piñas.
Ranara was found dead in a desert in Kuwait. She was killed and burned by the 17-year-old son of her employers.
According to OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio, the family of the victim requested that the burial be privately held.
However, the OWWA official did not elaborate the reason why the family had refused to perform the burial ceremony in public.
Ignacio said his office has already extended educational support and scholarship for the victim’s children. It was also learned that other people have also extended their financial support to the family of Ranara.
“We are sad and at the same time, enraged over the death of Jullebee in Kuwait. The government should come up with concrete action so that justice will be served to Jullebee’s family, and to prevent similar tragedies from happening as well,” said Gina Cedron of KMK.
Both OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), reports said, will also provide assistance including the processing of the victim’s insurance and death benefits that will be given to the immediate family of Ranara.
Meanwhile, Senator Raffy Tulfo demanded a public apology from the Kuwaiti Government.
The senator also confirmed that the immediate family of Jullebee Ranara did not accept the “blood money” offered by the Kuwaiti Government.
