CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: About 83,000 SinoVac vials for distribution to various provinces and cities in Northern Mindanao arrived here Tuesday.
Officials at the Department of Health (DOH) regional office said that 12,000 of the anti-COVID-19 vaccines would be allocated for Cagayan De Oro City.
The DOH regional office said that 7,000 SinoVac vials would be sent to Iligan City while the remaining 64,000 anti-COVID -19 vials would to distributed to other cities and provinces in Northern Mindanao.
Cagayan de Oro City Health Officer Lorraine J. Nery, said that 9,000 SinoVac vials were for the seniors’ first dose starting Wednesday while the remaining 3,000 vials were for the health workers’ second dose.
A team of policemen escorted the transportation of the highly fragile COVID -19 vials upon it’s arrival at the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental Tuesday toward the DOH regional storage in Cagayan De Oro City.
Pol. Lt. Col. Lemuel Gonda, the deputy police chief for safety operations in Cagayan de Oro City, said that “the police have to secure the anti-COVID-19 vaccines from possible saboteurs.”
The SinoVac vials arrived safely at the DOH regional storage, Gonda said. -0-
