CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: An alleged distributor of illegal drug “Shabu” (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) was collared in a buy busts pulled by law enforcers in a coastal village here, intelligence sources said Monday.
Agent Expedito Cardona, Jr., of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said that the PDEA and the city police successfully tracked down the suspects in their hideout in the seaside village of Lapasan, this city, Sunday evening.
Cardona identified the suspects as couple Rowena and Ali Mogawan, of Seaside Kolambog, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
He said that the couple did not resist when busted by the PDEA agents and the police who seized about 10 grams of illegal drugs in their possession.
According to Cardona, the suspect was under surveillance after intelligence reports pointed to them as one of the alleged distributors of illegal Shabu in Cagayan de Oro and Davao City.
During the initial investigation, the couple reportedly confessed of transporting 50 grams of illegal drugs for distribution in Cagayan de Oro City at P70,000 Cardona said.
“The couple travels to Marawi City, as the source of the illegal drugs, every weekend to get Shabu and hurdles the checkpoints before reaching Cagayan de Oro City,” Cardona said.
He said that the couple reportedly bought the illegal drugs at P 50,000 for the 50 grams and resell it for P70,000 or a profit margin of P 20,000.
Cardona said that the couple was already jailed in 2018 when they were separately arrested with illegal drugs charges, but were released in 2019 -0-
