CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Friday appealed to all senior citizens to disclose everything about their health status prior to getting an anti-COVID 19 vaccines.
Moreno issued the appeal as the probe into the death of the 73-year-old senior citizen who died a few minutes after an anti-COVID -19 jab Wednesday was getting headway.
Zoilo Joaquin Borcillo, of Barangay Agusan here, died at the city-owned JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) where he was admitted after complaining of difficulty of breathing after getting the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
Moreno said that he has instructed the city health officials to get into the bottom of the case in order to determine the real cause of Borcillo’s death.
Dr. William Bernardo, head of the task force on database management, said that in his pre-data registration Borcillo indicated that he was a senior citizen with comorbidities.
Senior citizens with comorbidities were given priority in the anti-COVID -19 dose in a downtown mall here Wednesday.
In the initial report, the doctor also mentioned that Borcillo was ambulatory and did not look physically sickly by appearance.
Moreno said that Borcillo, however, did not disclose that he had a “heart by pass” before although he had some maintenance medications for hypertension and benign prostatic hypertrophy.
The City Executive also reminded the senior citizens to tell everything their health prior to vaccination in order for doctors to make sound decisions.
Moreno said it would also be better for the senior citizen to ask for clearance from their attending physician before having themselves vaccinated. -0-
