SENATOR-ELECT CHRISTOPHER "BONG" GO is assured of two Senate committee chairmanship in the 18th Congress according to Senator Vicente Sotto III, the current Senate President.
The two committees leadership roles will be left vacant by outgoing senator JV Ejercito. Ejercito failed in his re-election bid in May's midterm elections.
Bong Go will chair the committee on health as well as the committee on urban planning, housing and resettlement.
Meanwhile, Senator Sotto also said Senator-elect Ronald dela Rosa will chair the committee on public order and dangerous drugs while Senator elect Francis Tolentino will also chair the committee on local government.
Earlier, senators (incumbents, new and returning) attended a dinner at the house of Sen Manny Pacquiao and they have reportedly discussed committee chairmanships, among other important matters in regards to running the country.
It can be recalled that Senator Go has expressed interest on holding committee chairmanships in four Senate committees. These were: urban planning, housing and resettlements; health, education and sports.
In a related development, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel said he will likely chair the committee on trade and foreign relations.
“Most likely trade and foreign relations,” Pimentel told reporters. ###
