by Gerry Lee Gorit

MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Provincial administrator John Venice Ladaga revealed that the regional assessment for the “Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) will be on June 13, 2024.

Ladaga told the media they were already preparing for the said activity. The primary focus would be on the provincial risk reduction program, environment and provincial education.

Ladaga told the media that among the priority concerns for the risk reduction management program would be the creation of an evacuation center. “We have already identified an evacuation center in Claveria which can handle 300-500 evacuees, Ladaga said.

For the provincial education center, the province would focus on implementing the Magna Carta for the Disabled persons, most especially on giving them better access in the workplace.

Ladaga said since there are also PWDs employed by the province, they are currently implementing the installation of railings in comfort rooms and much better access in offices for the employed PWDs.

“We are now installing railings in comfort rooms and other areas in the Provincial Capitol as well as in hospitals,” Provincial administrator Ladaga said.

For the environment aspect, they are now identifying wetlands in the two districts of the province. They have already identified them, Ladaga said. First the first district, Ladaga said, the towns identified already include Initao and Libertad. For the second district, those identified as having wet lands were Gingoog City and Talisayan.

For single digit poverty incidence, the provincial government is going to schedule the anti-poverty summit this August.

Ladaga said they have invited DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos as among those invited resource speakers. “Actually, we have invited Secretary Abalos of the DILG to join us during the anti-poverty summit,” Ladaga said.
