DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Duterte yesterday lash out unscrupulous individuals against using the vaccination program of the government to extort money from the people.
Mayor Sarah said she received verified reports that there are some individuals offering vaccination against the coronavirus disease for a fee.
She clarified during a radio interview that only the government is authorized to administer vaccination against covid-19.
“If there are instances that somebody will offer you vaccines or a slot for vaccination or even vaccine prioritization in exchange for money, it is fraud. Do not give money to anybody intended for vaccination,” the Mayor warned.
The mayor clarified that the government’s vaccination program is free and all they have to is to sign up in order to be included in the masterlist.
She said: “If you have signed up, wait for the call for the schedule of your vaccination.”
She announced to her constituents in Davao to report to the nearest police station any movement of people offering vaccination or selling their slot and ask for money.
“It is not necessary that you will see an actual vaccination being done to me for you to get vaccinated. I guess it is enough that you hear me push and advocate for you to get the vaccine against Covid-19 for your protection,” Sara told reporters.
Mayor Sara said though the inoculation is voluntary, but the people should based their decision on science and not only hearsay and claims of other people with no basis and scentific evidence.
Duterte said there are people who do not want to be vaccinated because of wrong information they get from their friends. But she urged the people to get vaccinated in order to be safe from the deadly attacks of the virus. – PNA
