‘Rufus’ bats for more police cars, completion of CDO headquarters

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez on Wednesday batted for new police cars, communication system and funds to complete the construction of the city’s police headquarters here.

Rodriguez said that he made the call during the budget hearing of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the meeting of the Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation Development on September 1, 2022.

“During the meeting, PNP Chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. committed to address the concerns of the Cagayan de Oro City police,” Rodriguez said.

He said that Azurin pledge to provide for the P30 million required for the purchase of the lot currently occupied by the police Headquarters (Maharlika) in Carmen, this city.

Rodriguez also requested five additional police cars for Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and the installation of communication system linking all borders of Northern Mindanao worth P 29 million.

During the same hearing, the lawmaker also moved for the approval of the DILG’s proposed 2023 budget of P 296 billion. -0-
