Robbers cart P300K in broad daylight robbery in Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A riding-in-tandem robbery suspects successfully carted away P300,000 intended to pay for the salaries and wages of constructions workers, reports reaching MDNN said yesterday.

The police probers led by Police Lieutenant colonel Alfredo Ortiz, who immediately responded to the crime scene and conducted the initial investigation, said the two suspects were on board a Yamaha motorcycle.

The suspects, police said, chanced upon the victim, a certain Lemuel Bulak, a resident of Luyong Bonbon, Opol, Misamis Oriental, while negotiating his driven motorcycle along the JR Borja Bridge – the suspects forced him to stop and then shot him in the leg.

Police investigations also added that one of the suspects immediately grabbed the bag containing the money, and then they fled to unknown directions.

Major Ericcson Sabanal, chief of Carmen Police precinct said the victim was shot first in his left leg before his bag was taken by the suspects.

Sabanal said he has already instructed his operatives to speed up the investigation and arrest the suspects as soon as possible to give justice to the victim, and to those construction workers who will not be able to receive their salaries because of the incident.

The police investigators admitted they have yet to identify the perpetrators of the broad daylight robbery along JR Borja Bridge but said they are continuing and extending their tracing and tracking of possible whereabouts of the motorcycle-riding suspects.

The police said they are also considering a possible “inside job” since the suspects discovered that the bag contains a big sum of money.
