CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A retired police officer was killed by his eldest son Wednesday morning in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, a coastal town, 25 kilometers east of here.

Retired Police Major Lorenzo Larot, 63, sustained multiple hacked and stabbed wounds on various parts of his body, which resulted to his instaneous death.

Prior to his retirement, Larot erstwhile served as the chief of police of the municipal town of Villanueva.

The suspect, his eldest son Lorden, 42, an on leave seaman who reportedly worked as a chef of a cruise ship, escaped and is now an object of police manhunt.

Police investigators said that the motive of the killing was reportedly a “feud” among members of the victim’s family that boils down to “crime of passion.”

Investigator said that the victim reportedly lived with another woman to whom he has two child, which caused a running feud between the victim and his legal wife who was the mother of the suspect.

On Wednesday morning, the victim who was living with his woman in the neighboring town of Tagoloan, visited their conjugal residence in Balacanas, a village of Villanueva where a deadly confrontation with his eldest son Lorden took place.

Neighbors told the police that they did not hear commotion or a shouting match between father and son before the incident took place.

Witnesses told the police that they saw the eldest son riding a motorcycle as if nothing happened while fleeing from the crime scene.

Police who went to the crime scene recovered the alleged machete used in the killing and a .38 caliber.

The police are investigating to establish the ownership of the recovered firearms. -0-
