CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A retired army was arrested for alleged possession, manufacturing of illegal firearms, explosives and ammunitions the police said Tuesday.
The suspect identified as Benjamin Acilo Mara-mara, 63, of Purok Digson, Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental, was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court of Tangub, Misamis Occidental.
In his report to the regional police headquarters here Tuesday, Capt. Ken Paul E. Balatero, said that the law enforcers seized a .45 caliber pistol with expired license and a grenade from the suspect.
He said that the court recommended a bail in consideration of the pistol owned by the suspect because it has an expired license.
However, no bail was recommended for the hand grenade resulting in the detention of the suspect, Balatero said.
He said that the suspect is now in the custody of the.municipal police in Bonifacio pending the filing of charges with violation of illegal manufacturing, aquisition and possession of explosives. -0-
