COTABATO CITY — A recruiter here who promised her victims of high-paying jobs overseas was arrested Tuesday by government authorities.
Brigadier Gen Eden Ugale identified the arrested suspect as Maalidin Salasal, a resident of this City.
Elements of the local police here and operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) collared the suspect in Barangay Mother Bagua. But another suspect in the list, identified as a certain Aisha Albalawi, was nowhere to be found during the surprise raid.
During the raid, the raiding team also rescued 13 women who were victimized and promised high-paying jobs from employers overseas.
Major Esmael Madin, chief of the CIDG Maguindanao, said the arrested suspect was an employee of a ‘shadowy’ company known as Iemploy Manpower Services at around 3:00pm Tuesday in said barangay.
Investigation disclosed that a complaint was filed at the CIDG office by a concerned citizen regarding the alleged illegal recruitment of the company.
The police are yet to identify the names of the victims pending investigation conducted by police investigators.
Ugale said the arrested suspect is now languishing at the CIDG-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) office, undergoing tactical debriefing about her reported illegal activities recruiting 13 women and promise them to receive bigger payouts abroad.
The suspects, report said, were reportedly operating in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and this city.
The victims are now contemplating filing charges of illegal recruitment against the suspects. – PNA
