CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: About 300 individuals on Monday were charged with violation of illegal cockfighting during a raid in a town cockpit in Balingasag, 52 kilometers east of here.
Col. Raniel M. Valones, the police provincial director of Misamis Oriental, said that the suspects were rounded up in a joint raid conducted by the provincial and town police in a village in Mandangoa, Balingasag, Sunday evening.
He said that the management of the cockfighting arena were already forewarned about the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Res. No. 154 known as “Traditional Sabong” were “betting shall be cashless and shall use technology base platform, no physical exchange of cash and no oral placing of bet.”
Valones said that the raiding team nabbed the management and staff together with the regular patrons and those in the cockpit arena along with the P 41,754.00 bet money of various denominations.
Also seized were 99 unit of Motorcycles of different brand and colors, one Tricycle, one Tricab Baja and one Motor Vehicle Ford Ranger Raptor color White with plate no. MAU1484, 20 pieces gaff, 10 pieces gaff scabbard, 13 dead fighting cocks and 27 live fighting cocks.
Valones said that four minors who were collared during the raid were turned over to their parents in the presence of the town welfare staff to undergo intervention and diversion program. -0-
