Rage in the bridge, 1 killed, 1 injured

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Local police belied insinuations that the suspect in the Taguanao Bridge rage that killed and injured another bystander was discreetly detained in an unknown hideout.

One killed while another was injured in a road rage among groups of youths after a drinking spree that went until the wee hour in the morning Monday, Oct 10, 2022 in Cagayan de Oro City.

Killed was Paul John Levita, while his younger brother Rufus, both of legal age, survived when ran over by the car driven by an unidentified suspect along Taguanao Bridge, in the village of Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022.

Police Officer Feliciano Belhot, the assigned investigator of the case, said that

“The police are still in hot pursuit of the suspect. All police operatives are already alerted to flag down the suspect’s car, a Hyundai Accent color black with plate number KAB 1246,“ Belhot said.

The police are still in hot pursuit of the suspect and have yet to recover the car, Belhot said.

He said that the incident took place past six early Monday when two witnesses reported to the police about the incident of an unidentified driver who reportedly ran over the Levita brothers .

An initial investigation disclosed that two youth groups were reportedly having a separate drinking spree by the bridge’s side when a heated altercation reportedly ensued between the group.

A video footage taken and posted in the social media, by an unknown group member showed the suspect-driver getting inside the car as a group of hooters followed while bottles flew overhead.

The car driver accelerated the vehicle in front of the victim, living the victim sprawled on the ground, reversed the car, turned around and mowed the younger brother off the bridge’s gutter with only minor injuries. -0-
