RELEASING of salaries of medical personnel at the city government-run JR Borja General Hospital have been delayed due to a number of factors, the root of which is Covid-19.
In a press conference earlier this week, JR Borja General Hospital chief Dr. Ramon Moreno said that personnel at the hospital and other departments at City Hall who are in charge of processing the salaries have been quarantined due to Covid-19 exposure.
Moreno said this is the exact reason why the salaries are delayed.
He added that even personnel from national government agencies who are concerned in the disbursement of funds such as Department of Budget and Management (DBM) are also quarantining.
At JR Borja General Hospital alone, a total of 40 medical personnel are quarantined every day, as a precaution due to their exposure with Covid-19 patients.
Moreno said that as of presstime, the hospital is already running under 209 percent capacity.
But he emphasized that as a government-run medical facility, they will continue to accept patients, both Covid and non-Covid.
Moreno appealed to the public to avail of the government’s remote medical consultation known as Telekonsulta to decongest the city’s hospitals.
The numbers to call are 0926-063-6242 and 0953-359-4762.
As of press time, there are 734 Covid-19 patients admitted in the city’s public and private hospitals.
In the meantime, construction of the Covid ward at JR Borja General Hospital is being fasttracked to cater to the continuing surge of coronavirus cases here.
This even as Mayor Oscar Moreno on Friday ordered the city’s Human Resources Management Office and the City Budget Office to freeze the hiring of new employees at other city hall departments and prioritize recruitment of medical personnel instead.
The Department of Health 10 has likewise detailed 12 of its nurses to the city government.
