PUV operators in Normin get cash aid from LTFRB-10

CAGAYAN de Oro City–The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Region 10 (LTFRB-10) has started distributing cash assistance to operators of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) in Northern Mindanao under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act II, otherwise known as Republic Act (RA) 11494.

LTFRB-10 Regional Director Allan Guro said PUV drivers all over Northern Mindanao will receive P6,500 cash assistance.

Guro said the government has allotted 1,161,114.210 billion under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act II.

He said the drivers had already recieved their respective cash assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

He said: “SAP is really intended for the drivers.”

For his part, Bukidnon Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BUKTRAMCO) chairman Melvin L. Erederos said operators have already received three sets of assistance that started in 2018.

Erederos said operators received P5,000 and another P20-25,000 in 2019 in cash assistance.

He added that operators under Buktramco got P6,500 for this year as cash assistance.

Erederos said that the coop is also expecting the additional 300 units to start operating this year.

The 300 units will ply the Cagayan de Oro City-Bukidnon routes, said Erederos in an interview.

He said that Buktramco has always reminded its drivers and operators to always follow the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Aside from the 50-percent cut off of passengers, Erederos said drivers nd operators are trained on how to disinfect their respective units.

Drivers must also wear face mask, face shield and even gloves and install foot bath
