ILIGAN CITY —– The Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID in Iligan City confirmed in a press briefing this afternoon that a patient under investigation being admitted at a hospital in Iligan City was tested positive of COVID-19.
The result of his swab test arrived from the Research Institute for Tropical Management, Tuesday, March 24.
City Health Officer Dr. Cherlina Cañaveral said the patient is male, 46 years old from Masiu, Lanao del Sur, according to Iligan City Health Officer Cherlina Cañaveral.
The patient, referred to as PH492 by the Department of Health (DOH), had travelled in Thailand on February 23 and came back to Philippines via AirAsia on March 3.
He was admitted in an unnamed hospital in Iligan on March 9 due to pneumonia and was taken swab sample on March 13.
“He was about to be discharged because his status is developing but when the (COVID) test result arrived today, he was held so that he will continue his medication in a hospital,” Cañaveral said.
As of March 23, there ardm 19 patients under investigation in Iligan but only one has been in a hospital who is PH492.
The other 18 are in a home quarantine for they have mild symptoms or asymptomatic.
