The Philippine Trade Training Center – Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA) is set to host the NationalHalal Capacity Building Program with the theme: “Global Halal Excellence: Upskilling, Reskilling and Converging Halal Capability Building” on April 18, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the PTTC-GMEA Building, Sen. Gil J. Puyat cor. Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.
The Halal industry has gained global attention as an Islamic universal standard on human consumption, business interactions, food preparation, services, environmental protection, and moderation of animal, plant, and tree usage. Recently, the UN Food and Agriculture Committee recognized Halal standards as generally accepted norms. According to the Global Islamic Economy Report, the global Halal industry is worth an estimated $2.3 trillion dollarsand expected to reach $3.7 trillion dollarsby 2024. In line with this, the Philippines has also recognized the importance of the Halal industry and has established the “Halal Export Development and Promotion Act of 2016”, which includes nationwide capacity building for stakeholders in the Halalecosystem.
The National Halal Capacity Building Program aims to provide information and support to Filipino enterprises in the Halal industry throughtechnical assistance and capacity-building programs.It also seeks to establish a platform for Halal industry stakeholders in the Philippines to come together and exchange ideas and knowledge on services and product providers. The event will feature a variety of presentations providing an overview of the latest developments and trends in the Halal industry. There will be panel discussions on topics related to certification, marketing, and the role of technology and training in support of Republic Act 10817. Informative sessions will cover various sectors of the Halal industry in the Philippines, including food and beverages, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. Additionally, there will be networking opportunities, including a business matchingsession and networking reception.
