Pompee, Oca hurled brickbats during Bombo debate

Incumbent Cagayan de Oro city mayor Oscar Moreno and mayoralty aspirant Pompee La Viña today (April 6) hurled brickbats at each other during a debate spearheaded by a local radio station DXIF Bombo Radyo.

Facilitated by anchorman and moderator Junel Ucat, the two contenders accused each other of corruptions. La Viña has accused the incumbent mayor of facing more than 100 cases allegedly involving graft and corruption. But Moreno was quick to answer
that most of the cases were already dismissed.

Naa kitay mga kaso tinood kana apan halos tanan niini na dismiss naman, the incumbent city mayor pointed out in vernacular.

Moreno said he is very optimistic none of these cases will prosper as these were only cases of politicking. He accused former city mayor Vincente Emano of masterminding those filing of charges almost every month to malign him and his leadership in the

La Viña, on his part said he has clearances from the Civil service, Ombudsman and other government bodies clearing him of having pending cases of corruption.

"Makapakita ko ug mga clearances nga kita walay mga kaso dili sama ni MOreno nga sobra 100 ka kaso na iyang giatubang sa kasamtangan," the mayoral aspirant claimed.

Moreno has also accused La Viña of corruption while still the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture. "Mao man ganing gitangtang siya sa DA kay napuno sa corruption and iyang opisina," Moreno said.

He said La Viña has had several cases that he allegedly paid money just to get freed from those cases filed against him. But all these accusations of Moreno was also immediately denied by La Viña.

Other mayoralty candidates who also joined the debate included businessman Felix Borres and newspaper columnist Ben Contreras.
