CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: “The peaceful BBM-Sara Grand Rally in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday was successful without any report of untoward incidents,” Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano, of Misamis Oriental, said Wednesday.
Emano commended the provincial police led by Col. Raniel Valones and Cagayan de Oro City Police Chief Lt. Col. Aaron Mandea for a job well done.
About 200,000 supporters from Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City braved rain to witness one of the largest political rallies held in the sprawling Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro City Tuesday.
Mandea said that 600 policemen were deployed around the city in coordination with the provincial police to secure the eight-hour political rally that started 1:00 p.m. Tuesday until past nine in the evening.
Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and running mate Sara Duterte led the grand rally along with the Senatorial candidates of the Uniteam Alliance political party.
In his speech, Marcos batted for unity among the opposition political parties for the country to move forward amid the challenges of the time.
“Kailangan nating magka isa upang mapaglabanan natin ang mga kasalukuyang pangangailangan ng ating panahon lalong lalo na sa pandemya. Muling hinikayat ni Marcos na pagpabakuna upang maging ligtas sa kapahamakan.”(We have to unite to surmount the challenges of ou time, especially with the pandemic. I also urged you to get vaccinated in order to be be safe.), Marcos told the crowd.
Emano said that the overwhelming support of the various political organizations in Misamis Oriental during the grand rally Tuesday showed BBM-Sara as the unifying factor of the country’s splintered political groups. -0-
