Police intensifies fight vs vote buying in Ozamiz

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental,  – The city police of Ozamiz City launched a program calling Ozamiznons and Misamisnons to reject all forms of bribery and vote buying in the May 13 polls.

This is in partnership with the Ang Suhol Iwaksi Natin-Itaguyod Ligal at Wasto (Asin-Ilaw) movement of the Police Technition Ministry Foundation.

Asin-Ilaw promotes a call for careful scrutiny of all candidates in the election period and proactively reject bribery in any form. This is in collaboration with the various agencies of the city.

Ozamiz city police station operation officer Police Captain Dennis Tano said that the scheme is a non-profit and non-partisan advocacy program and promote their advocacy for a safe and secured election while calling for good governance and the need for Ozamiznons to reject any form of bribery.

As a responsible citizen of Ozamiz, “atong ilhon ang atong mga kandidato kung wala ba ni sila nalambigit sa mga illegal na droga (Let us examine candidates whether they are involved with illegal drugs or not),” Tano said.

He further said, “Ang among gihimo para ma aware ang katawhan nga mo exercise to go out sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka balay panahon sa election kay among paningkamotan na ang matag tao sa Ozamiz maka botar or maka exercise sa ilang right of suffrage.”

(We are letting people aware and encourage them to go out from their homes and exercise their right to vote and ensure every resident could vote or exercise their right to suffrage during the election)

Tano also clarified that this is an awareness campaign, this is not party-list and this is not partisan.

In his inspirational message, Police Major Jovie Espenido said, “Young people have the potential to be our forefront for peace and stability in the society. Hence, he said,  “We need your involvement to sit down and tackle the most serious challenges we are facing nowadays.”

‘’Partner ta mga batan-on nga mahimong malinawon ang Ozamiz (We are partners in making Ozamiz a peaceful place),” he added.

Meanwhile, the movement aimed at innovating the strategy of integrated frontline services towards the improvement and expansion of police service that will effectively address public demand to deliver a timely, fast and quality police response with the support of technology.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), on the other hand, tapped the telecommunications for conducting an awareness campaign through the Asin-Ilaw jingle in public places of Ozamiz. (smrn/PIA10)
