Police hunt killers of CDO businessmen

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Police on Wednesday threw a citywide dragnet as the hunt for the killers  of two businessmen who were separately gunned down here in a span of 24-hour intensified.

The latest victim, Jonathan Juanillo, 40, a farmer-businessman was gunned down by the family’s trusted helper  identified as “Ali” Tuesday night in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City.
Junior Ompoc, 42, of Bulua, this city, a market stall holder in Carmen Market, one of the largest public markets here was gunned down Monday morning in barangay Carmen here.
Police investigators said that killer of Juanillo also tried to shot his wife, Aiza twice, but the gun failed to dislodge prompting the wife to run for life.
Aiza told the police that the motive for the killing could be about the ownership of the lot that Juanillo has  acquired when the owner pawned the property to them.
Jomar Abello, an in-law of Juanillo, told the police that “Ali’s” fired on third attempt but did not hit Aiza who ran undercover of darkness.
“I already sensed that something’s wrong when Ali approached us, so I walked away farther under pretext of relieving myself,” Abello said.
Abello told the police that the suspect “Ali” took the personal belongings of Juanillo, including their service vehicle.
On Monday, a lone gunman also shot  Ompoc, who died on the spot, with a bullet on the head in Lirio Street, Carmen, this city.
Motive for the killing of Ompoc remained unknown although a witness told the police that the two had an altercation prior to the shooting.
Police investigators said that the unidentified suspect, who remained at large, also took Ompoc’s service motorcycle.-0-
