CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Local law enforcers seized about 150 grams of “Shabu,” a locally known illegal drug, in separate drug buy-bust operations here with an estimated value of P 1 million, a police official said Saturday.
Lt. Col. Michelle Olaivar, the spokesperson of the regional police command here, said that the various anti–illegal drug operations netted six high valued suspects.
According to Olaivar, the latest buy-bust operation led to the arrest of a 41-year-old suspect who yielded a 50 grams of suspected Shabu valued at P 340,000.
Olaivar identified the suspect as Elwood R. Levanta,41, who was nabbed Thursday night during a buy-bust operation in Lomboy, Indahag, an upland village south of Cagayan de Oro City.
Prior to Levanta’s arrest, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) collared a taxi driver during a buy-bust and seized about 50 grams of illegal Shabu also worth P 340,000.
On Sept 2, 2021, police operatives, in cooperation with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested four suspects in separate buy-bust operations, which resulted in the recovery of more than 50 grams of Shabu valued at P 380,000.
Police identified the four suspects as Jorge Bersabal aka “Jun-jun,” single, 37, of Dabatian St., Carmen, Jeffrey Labitad, of Piaping Itom, Macabalan, Jomar Ditma, 24, of Lapasan, all of Cagayan de Oro City and Joy Dela Peña, single, 44, a resident of Gingoog City, who was collared in Agora, Cagayan de Oro City.
Brig. Gen. Rolando B. Anduyan, the Police Regional Director for Northern Mindanao, said that the arrest of the illegal drug suspects denotes the continuous operation of the law enforcers amid the pandemic and the forthcoming elections. -0-
