Camp Col Rafael C. Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City ————— PNP Caraga’s operation against the illegal trading of petroleum products resulted in the arrest of one individual and confiscation of a total of Php26,300.00 worth of petroleum products conducted in the province of Surigao del Norte yesterday, October 4.
POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT, JR., PRO13 Director, said that personnel of Claver Municipal Police Station arrested Arlo Dormindo Edioma, 42 years old, during police operation conducted in Purok 1, Pitogo, Brgy. Urbiztondo, Claver, Surigao del Norte.
Authorities confiscated cash amounting to Php120.00, six containers of gasoline consisting of 160 litres, and five containers of diesel consisting of 150 litres which have a total cost of Php26,300.00.
Edioma will be charged with violation of P.D. 1865, “An Act Defining and Penalizing Certain Prohibited Acts Inimical to The Public Interests and National Security Involving Petroleum and/or Petroleum Products, Prescribing Penalties Therefore and For Other Purposes”, By Including Short-Selling and Adulteration of Petroleum and Petroleum Products and Other Acts in The Definition of Prohibited Acts, Increasing the Penalties Therein, and for other Purposes”.
“Short selling or adulteration of petroleum or the action of making something poorer in quality by the addition of another substance is punishable by law. This serves as a stern warning to those who distribute and sell adulterated petroleum products,” said PBGEN CARAMAT, JR.
