In a successful joint operation, the Ozamiz City Police Station (CPS) and the Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office (MOCPPO) carried out the implementation of Search Warrant No. 2023-21 for the Violation of Republic Act 10591. The operation took place at approximately 5:25 AM on September 1, 2023, at a residence located in P-1 Barangay Kinuman Sur, Ozamiz City.
Led by Police Major Dennis P. Tano, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Ozamiz CPS, and Police Captain Elwood K. Malanog, an Intelligence and Investigation Officer, the joint team included personnel from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of Misamis Occidental and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of MOCPPO.
The operation was conducted based on a search warrant issued by Hon. Llane A. Sacote-Valconcha, the Executive Judge of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities within the 10th Judicial Region of Ozamiz City. The warrant, dated August 30, 2023, authorized the search of the residence belonging to Erick Villamor y Benigay and Robert Villamor y Benigay, who remain at large.
During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized a Colt Caliber 45 with serial number 090793, along with a steel magazine and six live ammunition rounds of Caliber 45. Additionally, a Revolver Caliber 38 and seven live ammunition rounds of Caliber 38 were recovered. Two pieces of 12 Gauge shotgun ammunition were also confiscated from the premises.
Following the recovery of these items, they were brought to the police station for proper disposition. The confiscated items will be used as evidence in the ongoing investigation. The subject search warrant will be returned to the issuing court as part of the legal process.
This successful operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal possession of firearms and uphold public safety. The collaborative efforts of Ozamiz CPS and MOCPPO in executing search warrants serve as a reminder that those who violate the law will be held accountable for their actions.
