PNP-10 launches 2-day LTOPF caravan in OzamizĀ

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–Hundreds of gun holders responded the call to renew their expired License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and firearm license in its two-day caravan, July 28-29, at the Ozamiz City Gymnasium here.

The one-stop shop caravan encouraged a hassle-free licensure for all loose firearms in the province of Misamis Occidental and neighboring provinces.

PLt. Col Ali Duterte, OIC of Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU)-10 said the concept of the caravan is to extend registration services to the public.

ā€œThe very purpose of this caravan is to reduce the number of unregistered firearms in the entire Region 10,ā€ Duterte said. He also said there are 15,000 unregistered firearms in the entire Region 10.

Duterte further urged the gun owners who have expired license and expired firearm registration to come to the LTOPF and Renewal of Firearm Registration Caravan and be law-abiding citizens and responsible firearm holders.

ā€œBilang isang firearms holder kailangan maging responsible tayo, mayroon tayong obligasyon nga kana atong i-renew sapagkat ang gihatag sa ato nga authority nga mag-possess ta og firearms pansamantala lang na (As a firearms holder, we should be responsible. We have an obligation to renew the license of the item because the authority given to us to possess the firearm is only temporary),ā€ he said.

Ozamiz City Police Station OIC Chief Police Major Dennis Tano thanked the LGU Ozamiz under the administration of Mayor Henry ā€œIndyā€ Oaminal, who provided the venue for the said activity and also the accommodation of police personnel from the PNP Regional Office-10 and the provincial office.

The requirements needed for new LTOPF application include the filled out and notarized LTOPF form, National Police Clearance or National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, birth certificate or Local Civil Registry Certificate, proof of income or proof of billing under the name of the applicant (or Barangay Clearance indicating for LTOPF purposes), photocopy of two valid identification cards, Certificate of Gun Safety and Responsible Gun Ownership seminar, neuro-psychiatric test and drug test from Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service.

Meanwhile, those who will renew their license will need to bring the filled out and notarized LTOPF form and a National Police Clearance and for Firearms Registration, as well as the filled out registration form, and valid LTOPF. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
