Ploutos Coin investment scheme core leader arrested

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MDN Mindanao News, June 21) – One of the five core leaders of Freedom Traders Club-Ploutos Coin investment scam ordered closed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was arrested in one of the malls in this city.

Police Corporal Raymond Daisog of the Macabalan Police Station 5 identified the suspect as one Kent Troy Sly Lagang, with last known address of Block 4, Lot 10, San Antonio Phase I, NHA, Holy Cross Agdao, Davao City.

The police arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant of arrest dated June 6, 2019, issued by Presiding Judge Bonifacio M. Macabaya at the Regional Trial Court Branch 20, this city.

“Nia siya karon sa atong custody dinhi sa Macabalan Police Station 5 pero i-commit ra siya sa Lumbia Jail next week kung dili makapiyansa,” the police corporal told MDN digital in a phone interview last night.

The arrest order came based on the complaint of Syndicated Estafa filed by a certain Dominic Bollozos. It was not clear, however, if the case was in relation with the investment scam in which Lagang was one of the five core leaders, alongside with Plotous founder Mark Steven Freeman.

Mark Freeman is now a fugitive in hiding as he was also ordered arrested by the court through a pending warrant of arrest. Earlier, a warrant of arrest was also served at the last known address of Freeman in Barangay Lapasan but he was already in hiding.

Ploutos Coin amassed over P50 Million

A member of the City Council has revealed to the media that Ploutos Coin owner allegedly amassed over Fifty Million Pesos in cash.

City Councilor George Goking  said he received reports that one of the investors had an investment of Fifty Million Pesos. The government excutive, however did not reveal the identity of the reported investor.

Goking said over a local radio station here, that all he received were unverified reports and he has not known yet who among the businessmen in the city has that big investment of Fifty Million Pesos.

“Those were all unverified reports and I also did not receive a formal complaint of the businessman who invested his Fifity Million Pesos,” the city councilor pointed out

He said if the P50 Million investment was true then Ploutos Coin founder Mark Steven Freeman, whose last known address was Oasis Condominium in Barangay Lapasan, this city, could have amassed not only Fifty Million but more than P80 Million Pesos.

MDN online tried to contact Freeman at his supposed residence for the 2nd time but still the beleguered personlity was nowehere to be found.

“We have apprehensions nga nagtagotago na si Mark Freeman. But still we will serve the warrant of arrest at the aforementioned address,” Mardi Hortillosa, the Cocpo spokesperson said.

The Regional Trial Court Branch 39 issued the arrest warrant on February 12, this year, but it was released to the media only last February 20, 2019. It was penned by Presiding Judge Marites Filomena Rana-Bernales.

He said that at this time they have doubts whether Freeman is still at his last known address at the condominium in Brgy Lapasan, this city.

Hortillosa said more and more investment scheme victims would file their formal complaint at the National Bureau of Investigation. “Isa palang ni ka investor ang nagfile ug reklamo. Tingali naa pay daghan kay wala naman gyud sila nabayran ni Mark Freeman,” Hortillosa said.

Meanwhile, Councilor Goking also warned city residents of the same modus operandi of Ploutos Coin Founder Mark Freeman.

“Dili gyud magpataka ug invest ilabina kadtong mga kwarta gikan sa atong hinaguan, mga pensions ug uban pa nga hard-earned money aron dili mabiktima sa sama niini,” Goking warned. ###
