PDLs in Davao de Oro complete skills training on welding NC I

Another batch of inmates or Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in Davao de Oro graduated in free skills training under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) of the Technical Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) on July 22, 2022.

On behalf of TESDA Provincial Director Jasmin J. Neri, Davao National Agricultural School (DNAS) Administrator Norbenia O. Magpatoc congratulated and officially declared the twenty-five (25) PDLs as graduates and now certified National Certificate (NC) holders after passing the national competency assessment of TESDA.

“The program is part of the TESDA’s mandate to provide skills training to PDLs to help them get employed and develop their well-being by honing their skills and enhancing their potential until they reintegrate back into society,” Magpatoc said.

The scholars underwent 34-day skills training on welding in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Montevista, starting from April 27, 2022, to June 17, 2022.

With the exceptional support of Montevista District Jail Warden, JSUPT Len John R Bernal, and in partnership with DNAS, the overall conduct of skills training was made possible and successful.

Aside from the National Certificate, each graduate received training support funds (TSF) from TESDA. (R. Hortizano, Photos by Razil Arsenio of TESDA-DdO)
