CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Illegal drugs valued at exactly P 61,492,967.80 were incinerated here in compliance with the court order to destroy all seized illegal drugs within 24 hours after inspection.
Benjamin Recites, III, the assistant director of the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao, said that the Department of Justice (DOJ) led the inspection of the seized illegal drugs Monday.
He said that the PDEA has direct order from President Rodrigo Duterte to destroy immediately all seized contraband to avoid recycling by unscrupulous individuals.
Recites said that the process of incinerating the illegal drugs was known as “Thermal decomposition or Thermolysis at 1,000 degrees centigrade heat” in order that the drugs were decomposed and it’s chemicals broken down.
Destroyed through incineration were 9,043.0835 grams of “ Shabu” (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride), 4.5295 grams of Marijuana Fruiting Tops worth P 543.54, and Marijuana leaves weighing 0.4368 grams valued at P 52.42 or a total street value of P 61,492,967.80. -0-
