PDEA-BARMM cops collar fish vendor; P340K shabu seized

BARMM Region – Narcotics operatives in this region arrested a local fish vendor Monday afternoon (August 9) and seized from his possession illegal drugs known as ‘shabu,’ with an estimated market value of P340,000, police authorities reported.

The suspect was identified by police investigators as one Coco Mohammad Abad, 30, of Barangay Payan, Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.

Sachets of illegal drugs were seized from his possession during a buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) in Sitio Biniruan, Barangay Poblacion 9, in Cotabato City.

Director Gilbert Buenafe of PDEA-BARMM said in a statement, the suspect was carrying some 50 grams of the suspected ‘shabu.’ “The suspect was arrested after handing over some 50 grams of shabu to our poseur-buyer,” he said.

Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect has been the subject of surveillance for more than two months by the raiding team until one of them was able to transact with the suspect, which also resulted in his arrest while selling the illegal drug to the poseur-buyer.

The raiding team also recovered his wallet, marked money, and  motorcycle used in distributing the illegal drugs to his close contacts and friends in the ‘underworld’

The police official said: “He was doubling as a fish vendor at Barangay Poblacion Mother in this city when we carried out the buy-bust operation.”

The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violations of Republic Act 9165 or otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
