Pangalawang Tanghalan sa KampoJuan

After a gratifying Unang Tanghalan last weekend with Iligan-based chefs and musicians, Kampo Juan again regales its guests with the Pangalawang Tanghalan this Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Barangay Dicklum, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

PANGALAWANG TANGHALAN kicks off with French-trained Chef Maricar Urbano, mentored by Celebrity French Chef Herve’ Frerardand illustrating the balance between the science and artistry of cooking. Maricar’s cuisine is built on solid technique, balanced flavor, creativity and presentation.

Oro Teatro Bulawanon (OTB) will next feature the premier performance of Ang Paglaya, an original play by Maia Fortich Poblete about the timeless story of a father-and-daughter relationship.

Ang Paglaya is a story about a father and daughter caught in an issue that a lot of young ones are struggling with nowadays – the dilemma of choosing their passion for their craft or following the wishes of their parents.

“Ang Paglaya is OTB’s first step into a journey that will bring the group a little bit closer to putting the spotlight on local (CDO) theater talents. Hopefully, this journey will open more doors for us so we can find more opportunities for our advocacies, and for our artists – all brave and passionate Kagay-anons – to grow and share their talents to the people,” Poblete said.

OTB is the recipient of the 2018 Lambago Awards for Theatre, having performed plays to generate greater awareness on the realities of violence against women, women’s health and well-being.

“We’re quite excited about this because this is the first time we’re performing in Manolo Fortich, a place that’s close to my heart; and it’s also the first time we’ve been invited to become a part of a movement (or event) –Tanghalan sa Kampo Juan – that intends to encourage community members, families, individuals (both artists and non-artists) to embrace local culture and the arts.”

Oro Teatro Bulawanon (OTB) is a theater group founded by Maia and friends in 2016.

“While we’ve been doing productions since 2013, we only formally named our group that year, in time for our staging of my mom’s Palanca Award-winning playReyna Elena,” Poblete said.

Over the years, OTB focused on advocacy theater, organizing and staging Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues every year. They have also worked with friends dedicated to the campaign on HIV and AIDS awareness.

“We are also excited to perform in a place I consider as one of the best in this part of the world – KampoJuan,” Poblete said.

“With its breathtakingly beautiful heritage house and all the trees and natural splendor of nature surrounding us, it’s the perfect venue for our play.

Liceo Folkloric Dance Troupe  closes the evening with its award winning dance performances. The troupe has been a catalyst in promoting the diverse cultures of Mindanao in the Philippines and abroad. It has represented the country in the ASEAN Dance Festival Exposition in Brunei, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Today, it continues to share the wealth of Mindanao through its various road shows, and its captivating performances around the country and the world.
