MISAMIS ORIENTAL: The Padayon Pilipino, the ruling political party in Misamis Oriental, on Saturday named Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia as the standard bearer for its provincial candidates come 2022 local elections.
Incumbent provincial Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano, the Padayon Pilipino Regional Chairman, said the candidates would be named next week after party members and allied political parties agreed on common candidates.
Emano was nominated as candidate for the second congressional district of Misamis Oriental along with incumbent Cong. Christian Unabia who is running for reelection in Misamis Oriental’s first district.
Emano, however, was not closing the possibility of runnning for the mayirsl lost in Cagayan de Oro City as the Cagayanons and supporters are pushing him as the choice to be the next City Mayor.
“My reckoning either to run or not for City Mayor in Cagayan de Oro City would be on September 30, “ Emano said the virtual press confeerence.
The Padayon Political party also nominated incumbent Vice Governor Jeremy Pelaez, an opposition, who lately joined the Padayon as the running mate of Unabia.
The candidates were nominated and approved by the party members during its 2nd Regional Party Convention participated virtually by some members and invited members of the press.
Considered the strongest regional political party, the Commissions on Elections (COMELEC) accredited the Padayon Pilipino as a regional political party with all the incumbent key elected public officials having its political historical roots with the party. -0-
