SARANGANI PROVINCE – To strengthen their stronghold in Sarangani Province, the brother of boxer-turned Senator Manny Pacquiao, has filed his candidacy as a gubernatorial candidate.
Rep Rogelio Ruel Pacquiao, also a deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, has formally filed his certificate of candidacy on Friday at the provincial Comelec office in the province.
Although Manny Pacquiao was not present during his filing of candidacy, Rogelio was accompanied by immediate family members, close allies, and supporters in the Alabel town Comelec office.
Pacquiao led the total slate of the People’s Champ Movement (PCM), a local political party founded by the fighting senator.
“I am very happy that we are all here, united to push for more changes and make our beloved province better,” he told newsmen during his arrival Friday at the Comelec office.
Rogelio’s running mate, the report said, was the incumbent Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta, who is on his 2nd term, and outgoing Steve Chiongbian is aiming to become the first district’s representative.
The complete slate of the PCM party is composed of incumbents Rosemarie Martinez Sayo, Jess Bascuña, and Russel Jamora, brother of Senator Manny’s wife Jinkee, and newcomer Arnold Abequibel.
In the second district, the PCM fielded the following: Corazon Grafilo, Tranquilino Ruiz, Irish Arnado, Ephraim Galzote, Joseph Calanao, and new addition Gwyn Singcoy.
Rogelio Pacquiao vowed to continue the worthwhile projects of Solon and he will also introduce his own agenda if elected governor of the province.
“Our family and party are very grateful for the trust and support of the people of Sarangani. Rest assured that we will continue to work to uplift the quality of life of every Sarangan,” Rogelio concluded. – PNA
