Pacquiao returns to boxing, signs contract with a Japanese promoter

SARANGANI PROVINCE – Seven-time world champion and senator of the country, Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, announced during his recent trip to Japan that he will officially return to the boxing ring.

Pacquiao claimed he has signed a contract with Rizin, a well-known sports promoter in Japan. In his statement, the Filipino pride said that with his new contract, a boxing match to be held in Japan is likely to take place this year. 

“A few months ago, I was here as a guest, and today I have a very exciting announcement. I have agreed with Rizin to fight next year, the date will soon be announced, and also my opponent that Rizin will choose. I’m open and excited to fight a Japanese fighter,” Pacquiao said in front of his Japanese fans.

The Pacman has recently won his exhibition match with DK Yoo of South Korea.

Meanwhile, a famous Filipino commentator has said that with the Pacman now with Rizin Promotion company, he is also likely to fight with the undefeated Mayweather.

The boxing commentator said Rizin also promoted Mayweather before in one of his boxing matches held in Japan.

“I am hopeful that the Filipino ring icon will soon fight Mayweather for the second time because I know Rizin, it is one of the biggest sports promoters of combat sports in Japan,” he said.

Pacquiao lost to Mayweather in their first and only fight as negotiations of a rematch failed many times. This after, Mayweather also announced his retirement after defeating Pacquiao and many other boxing greats all over the world.
