MDNN Local News – Close to Three Million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the Task Force Davao (TFD) in only six months, a PNP top brass reported yesterday.
Colonel Darren Comia, the TFD commander, told the local media that the total confiscated illegal drugs consisted of shabu and Marijuana, from January to December 2022.
Comia said these drugs were confiscated by PNP operatives in various entry and exit points in the Davao region. ‘Of the amount, 179.7 grams of shabu amounting to PHP2,845,141, and 849.2 grams of marijuana valued at PHP106,274 were confiscations made by the police.”
Comia said: “We urge Dabawenyos to be vigilant and to report suspicious individuals and activities immediately to the security units,” he told reporters in an interview.
Based on police records, Comia said, at least 85 drug suspects who were arrested tried to bring the illegal drugs through the city’s entry points. Another 23 people were also arrested after they tried to bring the illegal drugs in the city.
Meanwhile, police records also showed smuggling has also increased in the Davao Region. Earlier, the police confiscated 5,702 reams of illegal cigarettes with a total estimated amount of Php2,853,500. AS a result the police had also recorded the arrest of 16 individuals.
The PNP official has urged Davawenyos to continuesly follow the so-called “center of security,” which encourages residents to adopt vigilance as their new way of life. With this initiative, the members have accepted volunterism, reporting, reminding and participation to achieve positive results.
