During the NorMin COVID-19 Response Task Force press conference, July 10, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Cariño said about 1,503 ELCAC projects are ongoing, 16 were canceled, 4 were completed, and 4 were implemented.
“Nagpadayon gihapon ang efforts to end local communist armed conflict. Wala ta nagpabaya (We still continue our efforts to end local communist armed conflict. We did not neglect our duties),” Cariño said.
As for the additional programs and projects implemented to respond to COVID-19 crisis, the regional director said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided immediate assistance through the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
For the first tranche of SAP implementation, DSWD-10 already disbursed P3.7 billion for COVID-19 response. Such includes the cash assistance, and P14.5 million for the food packs with 34,925 boxes.
For the partial clean list for waitlisted beneficiaries for Geographically Isolated and Displaced Areas (GIDA), DSWD-10 enlisted 748 beneficiaries in Bukidnon and 993 in Misamis Oriental. There are about 2,126 beneficiaries in the region for the partial list of SAP distribution.
Recently, through the cooperation of the different line agencies in Region 10, the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) was officially launched at Sitio Kibulag, Barangay Lantud, Talakag, Bukidnon, June 30 with Higaonons and Maranaos as the identified beneficiaries.
The PRLEC initiative is one of the convergence programs under the Executive Order. 70 which aims to better the services of the government for communities, especially vulnerable ones, as part of the government’s efforts to promote and act upon sustainable and inclusive peace. (RTP/PIA10)
