Ozamiz City Mayor Strengthens Anti-Vice Measures for Youth

In line with his youth empowerment advocacy, Ozamiz City Mayor Indy Oaminal has taken extra steps to keep minors away from alcohol.
Through Ordinance No. 500, No. 567, and No. 1085-17, the sale of alcoholic drinks within 100 meters of schools, churches, parks, stadiums, and even hospitals in the city are now strictly prohibited.

The directive seeks to protect children from vices, and help them stay focused in school. “Para kini sa atong mga kabatan-onan aron malayo sila sa bisyo ug maka focus sa ilang pag-eskwela ug sa maayong buluhaton (This is for the benefit of our youth, for them to be able to focus with their studies and to distance them from vices),” the Mayor explained.

Previously, Oaminal recognized the key role played by local government units in promoting the development of the youth. “We would also like to observe and study how other LGUs approach this matter, and share best practices,” he noted. “Measures such as these can be a proactive effort for us to protect our youth, help parents keep their kids safe and in school, as well help maintain peace and order.”

Oaminal was ranked among the Top 10 of the best performing mayors in the second half of 2022, according to a study by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
