Oro dad: Discipline needed in battle vs Covid-19

CAGAYAN de Oro City–A lady councilor yesterday stressed the importance of “people’s discipline” in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Ang ako lang hangyo disiplina sa katawhan para masumpo nato ang Covid-19,” stressed Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health and health insurance, during the radio program  “Kaabag ni Mayor Moreno” aired over Magnum Radio on Tuesday.

In her interview, Councilor Gaane said the public should always practice proper hygiene and follow health protocols to avoid the spread of the virus.

“Disiplina ang atong dapat buhaton kay gihimo na sa gobyerno ang angay natong buhaton,” she stressed.

Gaane appealed to residents of Cagayan de Oro and those in neighboring cities for unity  to support governments’ efforts to contain the virus.

“Ang akong hangyo nga matag usa kanato katawhan sa CDO ug mga silingan nga moanhi dinhi nga magpakabana kita ug mo-disiplna kita para ma-contain ang virus”, she said.

NON-PHARMACEUTICAL INTERVENTIONS

During the program, Councilor Gaane explained the importance and effectiveness of Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPI) in the fight against COVID-19.

She explained that the mandatory wearing of face mask as well as face shield, frequent hand washing, and social distancing, are collectively called as NPI.

NPI also includes proper cough etiquette and covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing, Gaane said.

“Laway ra ang kontra ani. Hangyo lang gyud nga naa lang atong social distancing,” she added.

She said it is important to practice NPI within the household, not necessarily to wear face mask and face shield but maintain social distancing of at least one to two meters away from each other.

“Simple ra man kaayo ang NPI. Kita na mismo ang mo-comply. Hangyo sa katawhan nga atong sundon. Ayaw isalig tanan sa gobyerno kay kita tanan possible carrier sa COVID-19,” Gaane pointed out. (SP/JBDacer)
