Online scammer in Bohol uses dead kid’s pics to extort money

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Remember the little boy Baby Yuan who just died of a rare disease?

The aunt of Baby Yuan lodged her complaint and sought the help of this paper that his nephew’s images were reportedly used by a scammer who lives in Bohol to extort money from innocent and unsuspecting Boholanos.

Jessa Solejon, Yuan’s aunt contacted MDNN and revealed that a scammer, identified as a certain Jhoann Eva has been contacting friends and other people on Facebook and allegedly asked them money in the guise of help Yuan’s family.

SCAMMER ALERT. The alleged scammer has been using these images of Baby Yuan while he was still admitted at a private hospital in Malaybalay City in Bukidnon. 

The alleged suspect has been making the rounds on the internet and chatted unsuspecting friends and other people about Yuan’s condition and later would solicit money without the knowledge and consent of Yuan’s family.

Baby Yuan died two weeks ago after doctors pronounced him already incapable of sustaining the prescribed medicines, as the immune system of the 4-month-old little kid has weakened fast. His body was buried at a public cemetery in their hometown in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.

“I am reporting this scammer in your office sir because she’s been doing the rounds on the internet and soliciting money without the consent of the immediate family of Yuan, ” Solejon said in vernacular.

She said the scammer didn’t even know that Baby Yuan has already died.

Angel Misto, Yuan’s biological mother has also contacted MDNN yesterday and also sought this paper’s help to expose the ‘modus operandi’ of the suspect.

“Please help us sir,” was Angel’s pleading as she was hurt that somebody could do this to their beloved son who has already joined his Creator.

CONCERNED CITIZEN

Baby Yuan’s immediate family discovered the modus of the suspect when one of her victims, who also live in Bohol, identified as Marissa Beachy, contacted them and reported Jhoann’s illegal activities.

In her FB account, Mrs Beachy who married an American, contacted the immediate family of Yuan and told them about the suspect’s doings in their hometown in Bohol.

Marissa identified her as a certain Jhoann, 18 year’s old from Tagbilaran City, Bohol. “I am one of her victims. She chatted me on Facebook and told me about the condition of the kid, then later solicited money from me,” Marissa said.

MDNN contacted Mrs Marissa Beachy on FB and she also confirmed the modus operandi of the suspect.

FAKE ACCOUNT

Meanwhile, Solejon, Yuan’s aunt also revealed that the suspect even made a ‘fake account’ of Baby Yuan and put the boy’s image on the said account.

“Grabe lage kaayo sir nagbuhat pa gyud siya ug fake account ni baby Yuan,” she said.

MDNN tried to connect the alleged suspect to air her side on the issue but she had already deleted her FB account.
