OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, July 23 (PIA)–Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal urged barangay officials of the city’s 51 barangays to enforce stringent health protocols after an authorized person outside of residence (APOR) yielded positive of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19.
Oaminal said barangay officials should learn from the best practices of their counterparts in other barangays on how to control the movement of people and come up with systems of implementing such measures.
“Disiplina sa atong kaugalingon, disiplina sa atong barangay ug disiplina sa atong dakbayan. Balik ta’g istorya sa atong mga tao, BPAT (Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams) ug BHW (Barangay Health Worker).” (We have to instill discipline to our self, discipline in our barangay and discipline in our city. We should remind our people, BPAT and BHW)
He also said the best way for people to fight the pandemic is through discipline and the safest way to prevent such is to stay at home if possible. Oaminal also reminded the people not take for granted the guidelines that were given by the national government.
The mayor further emphasized that barangay officials must continue taking the lead in the implementation of the stringent rules and regulations by ensuring the controlled movement of their constituents as this is crucial in preventing the spread of the deadly virus and in saving the lives of Ozamiznons.
“Information campaign must be done in our respective barangay. Let’s cooperate and help. Be more cautious now that we know that we have a confirmed case in the city.”
Oaminal also reminded the people to wear masks and maintain social distancing, and to stay at home when it is necessary. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
