Northern Mindnaao nutrition advocates honored

THE National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Northern Mindanao gave honors Friday at Chali Beach Resort and Conference Center in Cagayan de Oro City to advocates based here who have been championing nutrition in their respective stakes.

Awarded the green banner seal of compliance are El Salvador City; Cabanglasan, Bukidnon; Impasug-ong, Bukidnon; Kitaotao, Bukidnon; Lantapan, Bukidnon; Maramag, Bukidnon; Pangantucan, Bukidnon; San Fernando, Bukidnon; Sumilao, Bukidnon; Talakag, Bukidnon; and Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

Given the award of merit are Valencia City; Don Carlos, Bukidnon; Kadingilan, Bukidnon; Libona, Bukidnon; Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon; and Quezon, Bukidnon.

Named for special citations were Misamis Occidental (nutrition honor award contender) and Cagayan de Oro City (second year consistent regional outstanding winner in nutrition).

The Hall of Fame awards were given to Bukidnon; Misamis Oriental; Cagayan de Oro City; Quezon, Bukidnon; Alubijid, Misamis Oriental; Claveria, Misamis Oriental; Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental; Opol, Misamis Oriental; Salay, Misamis Oriental; and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

Gold awards were being handed out to Tangub City; Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon; Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental; Balingoan, Misamis Oriental; Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental; and Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Outstanding provincial nutrition officer is Marichu Tijing (Misamis Occidental), outstanding city nutrition action officer is Hazel Dondonayos and outstanding barangay nutrition scholars are the following: Glecy Singsing (Aglayan, Malaybalay City); Era Flores (Lumbo, Valencia City); Marina Mangubat (Kiara, Don Carlos, Bukidnon); and Jinny Oco (Kalabaylabay, El Salvador City).

Meanwhile, the city nutrition committee in Cagayan de Oro City led by Councilor Ma. Lourdes Gaane and city health officer Rachel Dilla got first place in the Regional Nutri-Webby Awards Year 3 for highest number of page likes, highest number of unique posts, highest number of post engagements and highest number of articles submitted.

On the other hand, the short film from Kapatagan Natonal High School is first place in the sixth annual edition of NNC 10’s short film festival.

Special mentions were cited to NNC’s external partners such as USTP-Oroquieta; Mangidkid Elementary School in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental for their gulayan and isdaan sa paralan; Rotary Club of Carmen Valley; and CDO Executive Lion’s Club for their human milk hub.

NNC is mandated yearly to conduct the awards.
