CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug. 20 (PIA)–In support to the efforts of the national government to curb the spread of COVID-19 without further affecting the economic activities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 provides a capacity enhancement to the LGUs on the Zoning Containment Strategy through a virtual orientation, August 18.
“This activity aims to ensure that all our local key functionaries are on board on the Zoning Containment Strategy, as the region is constrained with time in handling the pandemic,” said DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, chair of the Region 10 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (R10 IATF-MEID).
The strategy aims to identify focused areas to implement varying levels of quarantine, depending on the risk and stage of transmission. Such quarantine classification shall be imposed through the LGU’s executive order. The said approach follows the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treatment-Reintegration (PDITR) strategy of the National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19.
The activity is in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH)-10. The Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team, a specialized team of the DOH whose main objective is to save lives in hospitals that brings back the health-focused approach in responding to epidemics, discussed the requirements and guidelines in implementing localized lockdowns.
Moreover, the orientation is participated by the DILG field officers and Local Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (LESU) from the five provinces and two highly urbanized cities in the region. (DILG10/PIA10)
