MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, Aug. 17 (PIA)–The National Food Authority (NFA) Camiguin resumes sales through Executive Order No. 51 series of 1998 after it stopped in April 2020 to prioritize the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government unit (LGU) requirements during the onset of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic.
Under the said EO, all government offices, agencies and instrumentalities including the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP), which either provide rice to their employees as a form of incentive or non-monetary benefit or use rice in connection with their function are directed to purchase their rice requirements from NFA.
Only upon issuance of an NFA waiver can these government entities source rice elsewhere.
To avail, there shall be a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between NFA and the procuring government entity. Upon purchase, the NFA requires a list of employees who will receive the rice allowance or recipients in case of offices which use rice in connection with their function signed by the head of office and an authorization letter for the purchasing personnel.
